Game 1 - Loyola Chicago 5, Rhode Island 3
Rhode Island jumped out in front early, thanks to a costly defensive miscue by the Rambler defense. With Riley Frickleton on second and Kylie Bulinski on second and two down, Sydney Orndorff singled up the middle. Loyola Chicago centerfielder Sierra Sass put a hard charge on the ball, looking to make a play on Frickleton on the plate. However, the ball skipped past Sass and rolled to the wall in dead center field. All three Rhody runners circled the bases for a quick 3-0 lead.
URI led 3-1 after four innings, but the visitors used small ball to change momentum. Adelina Staden singled up the middle to start the inning before Megan Piotrowski and Sass filled the bases with back-to-back bunt singles. Averi Vander Woude followed with a third straight infield single on a tapper in front of the plate, bringing in the first run of the inning. A groundout and a sacrifice fly plated two more runs as the Ramblers pulled in front, 4-3.
Rhody was shut out over the final six innings by Brooke Steinhorst (3-7), who allowed just three singles while picking up a complete game.
