FAIRFAX, VA. — Rhode Island men's track and field sits in first place after the first day of competition at the Atlantic 10 Outdoor Track & Field Championship. The Rams collected 82 points in six events scored. Day one featured a podium sweep in the long jump and Nick Martin's record-breaking finish in the 3000m steeplechase.

Day One Results

Champions

• Matt Santy won the long jump with a mark of 7.60m for his first career outdoor long jump crown.

Prelims

• Maddox Jordan won the 1500m preliminary with a qualifying time of 3:47.69. Jeremy Roe (3:49.70) and Adam Melnick will join him in the final after finishing with qualifying times.
• Lucas Andrade crossed the finish line first in the 110m hurdle prelims, advancing in 13.99 seconds.
• Elias Sposato qualified for the 400m final after finishing fifth in the preliminary in 47.53 seconds.
• Cam Rose and Alex Arbogast advanced to the 100m finals after finishing in 10.75s and 10.83s, respectively. 
• Antonio Capalbo won the 800m prelim and advanced to the finals in 1:51.40. Ben Fatone will join him in the final after finishing in 1:52.23.
• Steven Doss qualified for the 200m final after finishing in 21.26s.

Final Finishes

• Nick Martin placed second in the 3000m steeplechase with a program-record time of 8:53.68.
• Nate Field finished fourth in the hammer throw, marking 56.43 meters. Brandon Wolfenden was fifth (55.48m) and Sam Meleshenko was sixth (53.50m).
• Izzy Henriques-Setho (7.55m) and Joachim Ennoo (7.49m) placed second and third in the long jump for the podium sweep. Nate Shultz finished fifth after leaping 7.36m.
• Alex DeStefano placed second in the pole vault with a mark of 4.55m. Carson Dean was third and Nathan Park was fourth after clearing the same mark. 
• In the javelin, Douglas Ledger placed second after throwing 63.40m.

Decathlon

• After the first day of the Decathlon, John Santos sits second with 3871 points and Miles Lipka is third with 3648 points.
