Rams Compete at Penn Relays, CCSU Invite

Rhode Island sent split squads for final tune ups ahead of the Atlantic 10 Outdoor Championship next weekend. The Rams were represented at the Penn Relays over a three-day span and the CCSU Invite on Friday.

Penn Relays - Results

The distance medley relay team of Maddox Jordan, Elias Sposato, Antonio Capalbo, and Nick Martin finished ninth in a program-record time of 9:44.14, smashing the previous record of 9:54:30 set in 1986 by Doug Read, Eric Steeves, Tennyson Muindi, and Greg Hale.
Matt Santy finished eighth in the high jump with a mark of 2.06 meters.

CCSU Invite - Results

In the 100 meters, Jacob Volkerts placed fifth in 11.12 seconds.
In the 400 meters, Ryan Temistokle took fifth in 49.82 seconds.
Owen Vieira won the 110m hurdles in 14.90 seconds.
Cooper Mitchell placed first in the 400m hurdles with a time of 54.32 seconds.
In the pole vault, Carson Dean, Alex DeStefano, and Damian Scouloukas tied for first, each clearing 4.30m.
Theo Puterbaugh won the shot put with a throw of 16.68m, Winslow Sightler placed fourth at 16.11m, Brandon Wolfenden took sixth at 14.59m, and CJ McDermott finished seventh at 14.56m.
In the discus, Winslow Sightler placed second with a mark of 47.32m and Sam Meleshenko finished fifth at 46.56m.
Nate Field placed second in the hammer with a throw of 55.24m, Wolfenden finished fourth at 55.13m, and Meleshenko took fifth at 52.76m.
