KINGSTON, R.I. - Rhode Island Football wide receiver Marquis Buchanan was named to the 2026 Shriners Children's East-West Bowl 1000, the organization announced last week. Buchanan is one of 41 players recognized by the East-West Bowl from FCS member schools. He is the only player recognized from CAA Football. 

The Providence, R.I. native was a First-Team All-American honoree in 2025 from Stats Perform, FCS Football Central, and the Associated Press. Buchanan's season totals included 78 catches, FCS Football leading 1,337 receiving yards, and eight touchdown catches. He joined Brian Forster as the players in program history to record multiple 1,000-yard receiving seasons.

After the 2025 season, Buchanan's 3,099 career receiving yards ranks third-most in team history. Over the last three seasons, Buchanan has notched 202 receptions. That's the third-most in program history trailing only Forster (284) and Aaron Parker (216).

The list is put together by the Shriners Children's East-West Bowl, and includes players from all four levels of football. The East-West Bowl consulted with NFL and college personnel to ensure the selection of the best 1000 players for the NFL level.

The Shriners Children's East-West Bowl will take place at AT&T Stadium in Arlington,Texas on Feb. 4, 2027. Players selected to the game will be coached by NFL coaches, in an NFL facility, with access to NFL-level resources, facilities, player-friendly schedules, and opportunities at the highest level.
