How it Happened
Rhode Island dropped its first road contest of 2026, falling 3-0 at Providence Saturday night. The Friars used a pair of second-half goals to come away with the win and send the Rams home with their first loss.Â
Rhode Island generated several chances in the opening half, but Providence took a 1-0 lead in the 10th minute on a goal from Jocy Koffi that was assisted by Signe Tingager. Kyra Samalonis led the Rams with three first-half shots, while Emily Morgan added two attempts, including one that forced a save from Providence goalkeeper Maria Ravotti. Rhode Island also drew four corner kicks in the half, but Providence took its 1-0 advantage into the break.
Providence extended its lead in the 65th minute on a goal from Courtnee Pickles, then added another in the 72nd minute to make it 3-0. Kyra Samalonis nearly got the Rams on the board in the 79th minute, but her shot was saved as Providence secured the shutout.
