How it Happened
Rhode Island got a late goal from Megan Steinbach to earn a hard-fought 1-1 draw with in-state rival Brown Thursday night.

Brown got on the board early with a goal from Angelina Vargas in the 12th minute. Kyra Treanor did the dirty work, getting around the URI defense deep in the box. Treanor found a wide-opener Vargas in front of the net for her third goal of the season.

Megan Steinbach pulled Rhody even in the 68th minute. A long ball into the box bounced over the Brown defense. Steinbach settled the ball and used a touch to create an opening for herself. She lined a left-footed shot past the dive of keeper Addison Etter.

Rhody nearly took the lead in the 83rd minute. Nika Jacobs found space just outside the box a beat Etter with a high, hard shot. Unfortunately, the ball caromed off the crossbar and bounced away.

Rhody keeper Dani Eden made a spectacular save with six seconds to go to keep the score tied. Brown's Jael-Marie Guy fired a shot headed inside the near upper 0, but Eden lunged to her right. Fully extended, Eden tipped the ball off the crossbar just moments before the final horn sounded.
