How it Happened
Rhode Island fell to their rivals Providence Monday night, 3-0.

Providence got on the board in the 12th minute when Fernando Garcia Gil played a long ball over the top to Alvaro Maneiro who blasted a shot through Rams keeper William Synnestvedt.

Rhody did a good job at limiting the Providence chances for the rest of the half and had a few of their own. Tiago Barriguinha delivered a free kick into the box with no one home, followed by a well-placed corner from Barriguinha that no one was able to get to either.

The Friars doubled their league when Angelo Ventrella crossed a ball into the box for Brian Garrepy who headed it into the back of the net. After video review, the goal stood confirming the Friars two goal advantage.

Providence got a third when Garrepy jumped on a loose ball in the 6-yard box for his second of the game in the 76th minute. Rhody had several more crosses off set pieces that were put in dangerous spots, but nothing to show for them. The game was physical throughout, as expected in this matchup. A total of 7 cards were shown during the match.
