Matt Untiet enters his first season as an assistant coach withthe Rhode Island baseball team in 2012-13. Prior to joininghead coach Jim Foster's staff, Untiet spent two seasons at Stetson,where worked with outfielders and first basemen, coached first baseand assisted with hitters.

A native of Berlin, Conn., Untiet served as a graduate assistantcoach at New Haven from 2008-10. During that time, he worked undercurrent Rhody assistant/former New Haven head coach Raphael Cerratoand was responsible for hitting and infield instruction as well asoutfield coaching. He also assisted with recruiting, academics andsummer camps.

During the offseason, Untiet has served as a camp instructor atVanderbilt, UConn and Boston College, while also spending thesummer of 2008 as an assistant coach with the Bourne Braves of theCape Cod Baseball League.

Before beginning his coaching career, Untiet was a scholar-athleteand four-year member of the baseball team at Connecticut. Afirst/third baseman for the Huskies, he ended his collegiate careeras UConn's all-time leader in putouts, with 1,250.

Untiet graduated from UConn in 2008, with a Bachelor’sDegree in Sociology. He went on to earn a Master’s in SportsManagement from New Haven in 2010.
