2016 (Sophomore)

• Made 18 appearances for the Rams, all out of the bullpen.
• Tossed 27.1 innings total, recording 27 strikeouts with just nine walks.
• Made his first appearance of the season at #14 Florida State (Feb. 20); threw just six pitches in an inning of scoreless relief.
• Allowed just one hit over 2.1 innings of relief in URI's 11-7 win at Winthrop (March 5).
• Pitched 2.1 scoreless innings of relief at Winthrop (March 5).
• Had seven consecutive scoreless appearances covering 13.0 innings of work from March 30-May 6... Struck out 16 batters with just five walks and 10 hits allowed during that stretch.
• Pitched 1.1 innings with no runs and two strikeouts at La Salle (May 19).
• Tossed a scoreledd 1-2-3 inning against Fordham at the Atlantic 10 Championship (May 26).

2015 (Freshman)

• Was third on the team in appearances with 15, all of which were in relief.
• Finished his rookie campaign with a 3.78 ERA.
• Recorded 13 strikeouts while allowing just five walks over 16.2 innings pitched.
• Went 13.1 consecutive innings without issuing a walk (Feb. 28 - May 12).
• Made his first career appearance at #2 Florida and retired the Gators in order in his first inning on the hill.
• Combined to allow just one hit over two scoreless relief appearances at #11 North Carolina.
• Tossed 3.0 shutout frames in the series-opener at Davidson, striking out three with no hits and no walks. 
• Posted a 1.29 ERA in Atlantic 10 games; allowed just one run on six hits with seven strikeouts and no walks over a combined 7.0 innings against Davidson, Saint Joseph's, Richmond and UMass.

High School

• Played baseball at North Kingstown High School under coach Kevin Gormley.
• Posted a 30-3 record and a 0.69 ERA as a three-year starter for NKHS.
• Was selected as his team's MVP and won the SK Cy Young Award as both a sophomore and junior.
• Also earned All-State accolades those two seasons.
• Is a two-time All-Star Game participant and three-time All-Division player.
• Was a finalist for the Rhode Island Player of the Year Award his sophomore season.
• Threw a no-hitter his freshman year.
• Helped lead North Kingstown to the Division 1 championship game in 2011 and 2013.
• Also played for East Cobb New England (U17).
• Team was ranked 10th in the nation this past summer and became the first-ever New England team to advance to the semifinals of the Perfect Game National Tournament.
• Earned All-Tournament honors as the team finished fourth out of the 340-team field.
• Also played hockey for the Providence Capitals (midgets) and the Cranston Reds (juniors).
• Team won the Rhode Island State Championship and finished as national runners up in 2010.
• Was selected to play in the MJHL All-Star Game in 2012.
• Was an honor roll student.
• Also worked with mentally challenged high school students through the Peer Partner gym class program.

Personal

• Born October 21, 1995.
• Son of Wanda and Roger Grillo, who played hockey at the University of Maine and was drafted by the Vancouver Canucks.
• His father - who currently serves as a regional manager for USA Hockey - also spent two decades coaching collegiately at Vermont and Brown, in addition to coaching four different USA National teams.
• Favorite athlete is Martin St. Louis.
• Favorite teams are the Minnesota Twins, Tampa Bay Lightning and Minnesota Vikings.
• Chose to attend URI over Maine and Boston College.
• Selected Rhode Island based on the coaching staff, the current players and the success of the program.
• Majoring in Communication Studies.
• Plans to pursue a career as a special education teacher.
