Mark Zabicki joined the Rhode Island strength and conditioning staff in August of 2021.
He comes to Rhode Island from Stonehill College, where he was the head strength and conditioning coach from August of 2016 through this summer. In that role, he oversaw all aspects of strength and conditioning for all 23 varsity programs, including men’s and women’s soccer, baseball and softball.

At Stonehill, Zabicki was in charge of scheduling, budgeting and facility maintenance. He also oversaw the internship program. While at Stonehill, Zabicki created the annual Benching to Break Barriers fundraiser. The fundraiser featured a team-based bench press competition that was open to all Stonehill students and staff. The objective was to raise funds and awareness for Penelope’s Place of Brockton, a non-profit organization that provides services for victims of domestic violence. The fundraiser raised more than $5,000 over its first three years.
Zabicki also spent one year as a strength and conditioning graduate fellow at Merrimack College during the 2015-16 school year. He worked primarily with men’s lacrosse and women’s tennis, while also assisting with football, field hockey, women’s basketball, track & field, cross country, women’s lacrosse and softball.
As a student-athlete, Zabicki played hockey and lacrosse at Becker College, serving as a two-year captain in the latter. He earned his bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science from Becker in 2013, and a master’s degree in Sport and Exercise Science from Merrimack in 2016. He expects to complete his second master’s degree, one in Sport Management and Athletic Administration from Southern New Hampshire in the spring of 2022.
