Brandon Napoleon joined the Rhode Island staff as the defensive backs coach in May of 2023. Shortly after arriving on campus in Kingston, Napoleon was named to 247Sports' 30Under30 List, which highlights college football's rising coaching stars. 

Napoleon came to URI from Sacred Heart, where he coached the cornerbacks in 2022. Part of a staff that had the fourth-ranked pass defense at the FCS level, Napoleon helped develop Arsheen Jiles, who earned All-NEC Second Team honors while leading the conference with eight pass break ups. 

Before his time at Sacred Heart, Napoleon a graduate assistant at the University of Buffalo. He also had stints at Kutztown University, Geneva College, Midwestern State University and Susquehanna University. During the 2019 campaign, he helped Susquehanna to a 10-1 record and a victory in the Centennial-MAC Bowl Series. While at Susquehanna, Napoleon coached two-time AFCA All-American cornerback Daniel Shelton.
 
Napoleon began his collegiate playing career as a defensive back at West Virginia before finishing at Kansas Wesleyan. As a senior in 2018, he had 20 tackles and intercepted four passes, returning one for a touchdown. 
 
Napoleon earned a communications degree from Kansas Wesleyan in 2018.
