The 2013 season marks the third season in Rhode Island forVaganek. It is his second season as the team's defensivecoordinator and his third season working with the defensiveline.

In 2012, Vaganek coached two players to All-CAA Football honors.Linebacker Andrew Bose - who started every game as a true sophomore- and junior cornerback Jamaal Bess both earned Third-Team All-CAAFootball honors.

In 2011, Vaganek helped McGinnis earn second-team All-CAA honorslast fall. McGinnis ranked third among defensive tackles in theconference with 66 tackles, including 10 for a loss. As a unit, theRams ranked fifth in the CAA in rushing defense at 147.3 yards pergame. McGinnis signed with the Arena Football League's PittsburghPower before the start of the 2013 season and is now a starter withthe team.

Vaganek arrives in Kingston following four years at ChristopherNewport University in Newport News, Va. During his four-yeartenure, the Captains posted a 26-15 mark, including trips to theNCAA Playoffs in 2008 and 2010. In 2008, his defense limitedopponents to just 20.1 points per game and forced 24 fumbles.

Vaganek began his coaching career at Highland (Kansas) CommunityCollege as the defensive line coach. He later served six years onthe staff at William & Mary (1995-2000) before moving on toHofstra University where he coached from 2001-2003. He also coachedone year at Fort Scott (Kansas) Community College in 1994 andeventually returned for a two-year stint as head coach from2004-05.

The New York native is a 1993 graduate of Temple University,where he played four years as an offensive lineman and longsnapper. Vaganek and his wife Jeanette are the proud parents ofBrian, Jr. and Julia.
