Henry Yianakopolos

Henry Yianakopolos enters his third year with the Rhode Island Football coaching staff in 2025 and currently serves as the team's defensive backs coach.

Before his promotion to an assistant coaching role in 2024, he joined the staff as a defensive assistant in the summer of 2023. Along with helping the Rams capture the 2024 CAA Football title, Yianakopolos developed defensive back Freddy Mallay (Second Team) and safety Emmanuel Gomes (Third Team) into All-CAA Football players in his first year leading the secondary.

A URI graduate, Yianakpolos was a member of the Rams' football team from 2017-22. Serving as one of the team captains in his redshirt senior campaign, he started all 11 games and finished with 46 tackles, a team-high 9.5 tackles for loss and 3.5 sacks. He had two pass break ups, one interception and one forced fumble.

He signed as an undrafted free agent with the BC Lions of the Canadian Football League and spent some time in training camp.
