Matthew Boyle enters his third year at Rhode Island and his first as the program's director of operations. He first joined the Rams as a special teams assistant and defensive quality control coach.
In 2019, he served as the offensive quality control coach and assisted the offense to one of its best years statistically in two decades. Prior to coming to Kingston, he spent one year as the defensive backs coach at East Coast Prep (Mass.), where he helped multiple defensive backs go on to play at the Division 1 level.
Boyle graduated from West Virginia University with a degree in Athletic Coaching Education and a minor in Sports and Exercise Psychology. Upon graduating, he spent two years as a coach at Worcester State University where he coached the offensive line his first year and the defensive backs his second year.
Boyle is a native of Grafton, Mass.
