Mitch Stone joined the Rhode Island football staff as Directorof Football Operations in March of 2013.

Stone previously spent six seasons as an assistant coach with themen's soccer team at Rhode Island. Before coming to URI, Stone wasthe Director of Operations at the Grantham Indoor Soccer Center inGrantham, N.H. There, his responsibilities included conductingcoaching and player development clinics, administrating league playand serving as Director of the Grantham Soccer School ofExcellence. Prior to his time in New Hampshire, Stone was the headmen's soccer coach at Lawrence University from 1997-2000.

He also served as an assistant on the Lawrence men's ice hockeycoaching staff from 1997-98 and took on the role of head coach from1998-99. Stone's collegiate coaching career started at theUniversity of Chicago, where he served as an intern assistant men'ssoccer coach in 1997.

Stone also has been involved with various camps across thecountry, including those at the University of Maine, DartmouthCollege, the University of Notre Dame and the Rhode Island EliteSoccer Academy. He directed the Lawrence University Soccer Camp in1999 and co-directed the Shooting Start Soccer Camp (Appleton,Wisc.) in 1998. He also served as the site director for the UpperValley Youth Lightning Community Camps (Hanover, N.H.) from1994-1997.

A native of Orono, Maine, Stone was a member of the 1993 RhodeIsland men's soccer team before transferring to Colby-Sawyer wherehe earned the College's Male Athlete of the Year Award in 1996 and1997. He also was recognized as the Commonwealth Coast Conference's(CCC) Player of the Year in 1995 and was a member of the CCCAll-Conference First Team in 1995 and 1996. Additionally, Stoneearned the CCC's Senior Scholar Athlete of the Year Award in1996.

A 1997 graduate of Colby-Sawyer College, he received hisBachelor's degree in Sports Management and went on to earn his MBAfrom Franklin Pierce in 2002.
