Umberto Di Meo joined the Rhode Island coaching staff as its defensive line coach in February of 2020. He enters his third season with the Rams in 2022-23.

In 2021, Di Meo coached Westley Neal, Jr., who was named a Phil Steele Freshman All-American. The defense ranked 33rd in the country with 2.45 sacks per game. The defensive linemen combined for 19.5 tackles for loss and 10 sacks.   

Di Meo spent the 2018 and 2019 seasons as a defensive graduate assistant coach at Boston College, where he worked with defensive line, secondary and linebacker positions. In 2018, he coached third-round NFL draft pick Zach Allen and Wyatt Ray, who signed with the New York Jets. In 2019, Di Meo coached second-team All-ACC linebacker Max Richardson.

In 2018, Di Meo was a defensive quality control coach with Cornell. That came after two seasons of coaching the defensive line at Springfield College. At Springfield, he coached Second Team All-American Nick Giorgio and three all-conference selections at defensive linemen. He helped lead Springfield College to the No. 1 ranked rushing defense in the NEWMAC while the team went undefeated and won a conference championship. Di Meo also coached the defensive line at Maine Maritime in 2015.

Di Meo was a four-year player for Springfield College from 2011-14. He earned a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration with a minor in Economics in 2015.
