Zach Metkler joined the Rhode Island staff as an offensive quality control assistant in July of 2022. He was promoted to director of operations in January of 2023
Metkler joined the Rams after spending the 2021 season with Allegheny College, where he coached both the defensive backs and the defensive line. He helped defensive tackle Chris Rubino earned Second Team All-NCAC honors, while cornerback Azariah Beaugard earned all-conference honorable mention.
In 2020, Metkler coached the running backs at Utica College. While there he also assisted with special teams, coordinating the special teams scout team in practices.
From 2018-20, Metkler was the offensive line and tight ends coach for Fox Chapel Area High School in Pittsburgh, Pa. In addition, he was the run game coordinator.
Since 2018, he has worked with Pro Football Focus in Cincinnati as a player participation analyst, and since 2017 he has been a contributing writer and podcast host for Steel City Underground, a blog and multimedia platform dedicated to the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Metkler earned a bachelor’s degree from Allegheny College in 2017 as a double major in Neuroscience and Psychology. He also minored in Global Health Studies (Pre-Med). He was an offensive lineman at the school from 2013-16, playing all five positions along the line.
