Ben Wood will begin his first season on Dan Hurley's men'sbasketball staff at Rhode Island, serving as the program's directorof player development.

Wood will run the team's video operations, coordinating filmexchange and opponent breakdowns and edits.  He will overseethe team's community relations program, the staff of team managers,and serve as the staff liaison with the academic servicesoffice.

Prior to coming to Kingston, Wood served in numerous capacities atConnecticut - most recently as the Huskies' head graduatemanager.  During his time in Storrs, UConn advanced to twoFinal Fours, winning the 2011 National Championship, and threeElite Eight appearances.  During his time at UConn, Wood wasalso a member of two Big East Championship teams (2006, 2011).

As the head graduate manager, he coordinated off-season individualplayer development programs for current and former UConnstudent-athletes, assisted head coach Jim Calhoun and his staffduring on-campus recruiting visits, worked with associate headcoach George Blaney on opponent scouting, and served as a liaisonbetween student-athletes, the coaching staff, and academic supportpersonnel.

From 2007-11, Wood was the co-director of the Jim CalhounBasketball Camp, which featured more than 1,200 youth aged 8-17each year.  Wood was responsible for hiring camp’scoaches, administrative and support staff and worked withUniversity Residential and Meal Services department to make allhousing and meal arrangements.

Wood earned his bachelors and masters degrees in geography, in 2007and 2009, respectively, from Connecticut.
