Kevin Tirone enters his third season as the director ofbasketball operations at the University of Rhode Island.

Tirone oversees the day-to-day operations of the men's basketballprogram, including all travel arrangements while serving as thestaff liaison between the facilities and compliance offices. He will also be in charge of the organization and andadministration of all practice activities and video edits of allteam practices and skill sessions. Tirone will also serve as thedirector of the Dan Hurley Basketball Camps.
 
Tirone joined the Rams' men's basketball program after spendingthe previous four seasons as an assistant coach at New JerseyInstitute of Technology.  While with the Highlanders, Tironewas responsible for recruiting, opponent scouting, while serving asthe liaison with academic services and facility operations.

He was part of a coaching staff that took NJIT into the NCAADivision I ranks, seeing a nine-win improvement between the 2008-09and 2009-10 seasons.  In 2010-11, NJIT won 15 games overalland posted a 9-3 mark in the Great West Conference.

Prior to NJIT, Tirone served as the director of basketballoperations at Robert Morris during the 2007-08 season, as the teamposted a school-record 26 wins (26-8), won the Northeast Conferenceregular season championship (16-2) and played in the 2008 NationalInvitation Tournament.

During his undergraduate years at Saint Joseph's, Tirone workedwith the Hawks' men's basketball program and and was a studentassistant coach for Phil Martelli in 2004-05.

From 2005-07, Tirone worked for The Hoop Group - the largestbasketball instruction organization in the world. He was thedirector of the Pocono Invitational Basketball Camp, a prestigiousovernight camp that has been in operation since 1963. He alsodirected the individual camps of legendary high school coaches BobHurley (St. Anthony) and Kevin Boyle (St. Patrick's).

A native of Staten Island, N.Y., Tirone earned a bachelor of artsdegree in history from Saint Joseph's in 2005 with a minor inpolitical science.
