Ryan McCloskey enters his fifth season with Rhode Island's men's basketball program in 2022-23. When Archie Miller was named head coach, he retained McCloskey in the role of assistant director of operations/video coordinator.

McCloskey has filled several roles for Rhode Island since joining the staff before the 2018-19 season. He was named special assistant to the head coach by David Cox for the 2021-22 season. McCloskey served as the team's director of basketball operations from 2019-21 and was the video coordinator in 2018-19.

McCloskey will oversee film and analytics in his new role. He also will have heavy involvement in the team's day-to-day operations.

Before coming to Rhode Island, McCloskey spent five seasons with the Florida Gators, working under Billy Donovan (2013-15) and Michael White (2015-2018). For two years as a graduate assistant, he helped in the day-to-day operations of the program as well as player development. As an undergrad, he assisted specifically with day-to-day video operations and projects.

During the 2013-14 season, the Gators won 30 straight games, leading to an SEC Regular Season Title, SEC Tournament Title, the #1 overall seed in the NCAA Tournament, and a Final Four appearance. Florida also reached the NCAA tournament in 2016-17 (Elite Eight) and 2017-18 (Round of 32).

McCloskey got the opportunity to be a part of the support staff for USA Basketball’s U18 (June 2014) and U19 (June 2015) teams. The Men’s U18 National Team claimed the FIBA Americas U18 Championship while the U19 National Team captured gold medals in the FIBA U19 World Championship.

McCloskey graduated from the University of Florida with a degree in Sports Management in 2016 and then earned his master's degree in the same discipline in 2018.
