PHILADELPHIA (AP) - Marvin O'Conner had 20 points and Andre Howard added 17
as St. Joseph's broke a three-game losing streak by crushing Rhode Island,
80-57, Tuesday night.
The Hawks (10-10, 5-5) went on an 11-0 run in the first half to open up a
38-24 advantage with 1:51 left. When Howard buried a jumper to start the second
half the lead extended to 15.
Rhode Island (5-18, 2-8) was paced by Zach Marbury, who scored 13 points
despite shooting three-for-14 from the field and missing all five
three-pointers that he attempted.
Na'im Crenshaw added 11 points for the Hawks. In the second half the Hawks
hit six free throws in 15 seconds to open up a 62-43 lead with 7:57 left. The
advantage reached 26 as the game turned ugly at the end. St. Joseph's made just
nine of 31 from the field in the second half.
