Men's Basketball Falls To St. Bonaventure

OLEAN, N.Y. (AP) - Kevin Houston and Peter Van Paassen scored 17 points apiece as St. Bonaventure defeated Rhode Island 91-55 Sunday afternoon.

This one was decided early as the Bonnies (11-5, 2-2 in the Atlantic 10) used an early 8-0 run to build an early 17-7 lead over the Rams (4-14, 0-5 in the Atlantic 10). A Peter Van Paassen lay-up capped a 12-0 run with about three minutes to go as St. Bonaventure led by as many as 30 points at 51-21.

Rhode Island suffered its sixth straight loss and played again without leading scorer Tavorris Bell, who's academically ineligible. Zach Marbury led the team with 13 points and was the only Ram in double figures.

The Bonnies notched their third straight win after losing four straight. J.R. Bremer added 16 points and Eric Siegrist added a career-high 13 points.

St. Bonaventure outrebounded the Rams, 52-29. Robert Cheeks led the Bonnies with eight boards.
