KINGSTON, R.I. - Rhode Island will return to the Basketball Hall of Fame Tip-Off for a game against Monmouth on Saturday, Nov. 7 at Mohegan Sun Arena.
Playing in the Hall of Fame Tip-Off for the second time in three seasons, the Rams will be part of a single night doubleheader. In addition to URI-Monmouth, Providence and Nebraska will play each other.
"We are excited to bring another outstanding field to Mohegan Sun Arena for the 2026 Basketball Hall of Fame Tip-Off," said John L. Doleva, President and CEO of the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame. "This year's doubleheader has everything you could want in an early-season event - historic programs, compelling matchups, and coaches who consistently compete at the highest level. Nebraska's first-ever NCAA Tournament appearance last season only adds to the excitement surrounding this field, and we can't wait to see all four programs tip off the college basketball season in style on November 7."
Rhode Island and Monmouth will be meeting for the second time. The only other game against the Hawks was an 85-62 victory for URI at the Philly Hoop Group Classic during the 2008-09 season.
After finishing fourth in the CAA during the regular season, Monmouth made a run to the 2026 conference championship game before falling 75-69 to Hofstra. The Hawks went 19-15 a year ago in their 15th season under King Rice. Rice has 239 career wins with the program and is a three-time MAAC Coach of the Year.
"The Basketball Hall of Fame Tip-Off is a fantastic showcase for college basketball," Rhode Island head coach
Archie Miller said. "This will be our third time playing at Mohegan Sun in my five seasons at Rhode Island. It is a quality environment for the team and the fans. We'll be facing a solid team in Monmouth, which reached the finals of the CA Championship last season. King Rice is synonymous with Monmouth basketball. Any time you have a coach with a program for 15 years, you know they are doing something right."
