PHILADELPHIA (AP) - Victor Thomas had a career-high 35 points on 13-of-22
shooting as La Salle defeated Rhode Island 84-68 Tuesday night.
Thomas was one of three Explorers (9-12, 3-7 Atlantic 10) who registered
career-highs in the win with Anwar Wilson grabbing a career-best 16 rebounds
and Julian Blanks setting a career mark with 15 assists. Rasul Butler added 23
points and 10 rebounds for La Salle, which had lost 8 of 10 coming into the
contest and 10 straight against Rhode Island.
Rhode Island's Tavorris Bell had 26 points, giving him 1,025 for his career,
making him the 47th player in school history to surpass the 1,000-point mark,
Zach Marbury scored 16 and Dinno Daniels added 11 for the Rams (5-18, 1-9), who
have lost 10 of their last 11.
La Salle, which outrebounded the Rams 53-35, went on a 25-3 run midway
through the first half as it took a 36-10 lead as Thomas and Butler scored 33
of the 36 Explorer points at that stage. La Salle's lead reached 28 in the
second half.
