Men's Basketball Falls Short To Richmond, 52-51, In OT

KINGSTON, R.I. (AP) - Reggie Brown hit a jump shot from the baseline with 8.5 seconds to play in overtime to give Richmond a 52-51 victory over Rhode Island on Wednesday night.

Brown finished with 18 points.

Rhode Island (7-17, 3-10 Atlantic 10) held Richmond to just two points over the final 11:25 of regulation, using the 13-2 run to tie the game at 46.

Troy Wiley tipped in a pass from Steve Mello just before the final buzzer to tie the game and send it into overtime.

Wiley led Rhode Island with 16 points and 11 rebounds.

A layup by Patrick O'Malley with 11:25 to play gave Richmond (15-11, 9-10) a 44-33 lead, but Rhode Island scored the next 11 points of the game.

Wiley had a putback dunk to make it 44-40 and his short jumper with 1:51 to play tied it at 44.

Rhode Island scored the first five points of the overtime to take a 51-46 lead.

Mike Skrocki added 13 points for Richmond and Scott Ungerer had 10.

Marcus Evans had 12 points and 10 rebounds for Rhode Island.
