SOUTH KINGSTOWN, R.I. (AP) - Brian Woodward scored 25 points and Lazare Adingono had 19 on Saturday night to lead Rhode Island to a 77-72 win over George Washington in front of the second largest on-campus crowd in school history.

Rhode Island (14-6, 6-3 Atlantic 10) led by as many as 17 in the second half, but the Colonials pulled within 72-69 on Omar Williams' two free throws with 1:44 to play.

But the Rams scored their last five points from the foul line to secure the win in front of 7,076 fans.

Rhode Island closed the first half with a 10-3 run for a 41-37 halftime lead, then opened the second half by outscoring George Washington 19-6 for a 60-43 lead with 12:24 to play.

Adingono made two 3-pointers and Woodward scored four points in the final 2:12 of the first half. Dustin Hellenga, who finished with 16 points, hit two 3-pointers during the second-half run and Woodward scored on an around-the-back move to make it 60-43.

Chris Monroe led George Washington (8-12, 2-7) with 20 points and T.J. Thompson finished with 14, including seven in the Colonials late run.
