SOUTH KINGSTOWN, R.I. (AP) - Brian Woodward went 16-of-16 from the foul
line, setting a school record for free throw attempts without a miss, and Dawan
Robinson scored a game-high 21 points to lead Rhode Island to a 73-59 win over
Yale on Wednesday night.
Woodward scored 20 points for Rhode Island (12-3), breaking the 1,000-point
mark for his career.
Yale (4-9) closed the lead to 57-50 after a basket by Justin Simon with 7:59
to play. But Rhode Island answered with a basket by Robinson and two foul shots
by Woodward to make it 61-50, and held a double-digit lead the rest of the way.
Paul Vitelli led Yale with 14 points, and Alex Gamboa and Justin Simon
scored 12 points each.
Jamaal Wise added 11 points and eight rebounds for Rhode Island.
Rhode Island went on runs of 15-2 and 9-0 in the first half and took a 38-27
lead at halftime.
