NEW YORK (AP) - Freshman center Arturo Dubois scored 10 of his 14 points
during an early second-half surge, and Manhattan rallied to defeat Rhode Island
67-58 Tuesday night.
Manhattan (2-0) trailed 30-23 at halftime but opened the second half with a
17-8 run. The 6-foot-8 Dubois repeatedly worked inside to spark the Jaspers
during that stretch.
With Rhode Island (1-1) leading 44-42, Manhattan went ahead to stay on three
successive 3-pointers from guard Jason Wingate. The last of those, a 3 from the
right side, gave the Jaspers a 51-44 advantage with 8:23 left.
Scott Hazelton paced the Rams with 23 points. They missed all six 3-point
attempts while Manhattan shot 6-of-18 from long range. Rhode Island also was
hurt by the Jaspers' full-court pressure, committing 22 turnovers.
Peter Mulligan scored 14 points for Manhattan, and C.J. Anderson added 12.
