KINGSTON, R.I. - The University of Rhode Island
women's volleyball team swept Harvard 3-0 Saturday in Keaney
Gymnasium to take second place in the URI Invitational.
Rutgers won the tournament with a perfect 3-0 record, winning
all three of its matches by 3-0 scores. Rhode Island finished
second with a 2-1 record, Harvard was 1-2 and New Hampshire
finished 0-3.
The Rams rolled to victories of 30-18, 30-19, 30-20 in a match
that took just an hour and 14 minutes to play. Rhode Island hit
.364 as a team and held Harvard to .163 hitting percentage.
Senior Kaleena Miller (Mahopac, N.Y.) led the Rams with 17
kills, hitting .394, with nine digs and a career-high five service
aces. Sophomore Rachel Bello (Wyckoff, N.J.) had 13 kills, hitting
.407 for the match.
Freshman Chelsea Wisz (Naperville, Ill.) had 42 assists and
senior Beatriz Arana (Cali, Colombia) registered eight kills and
six digs.
Rhode Island improved to 4-6 on the year and travels to in-state
rival Brown on Tuesday at 7 p.m. at the Pizzitola Center.
