SOUTH KINGSTOWN, R.I. (AP) - Bryant Dunston scored a game-high 20 points and
had 9 rebounds to lead Fordham to a 63-49 win over Rhode Island on Saturday
afternoon.
The win broke a 20-game conference road losing streak for Fordham (7-10, 3-3
Atlantic 10).
Jermaine Anderson scored 13 of his 19 points in the second half to help
Fordham pull away. Terrence Mack led Rhode Island (4-12, 2-3) with 16 points.
An Anderson three-pointer followed by a pair of made foul shots from Dunston
made it a 52-42 game with 6:19 to play in the game.
Will Daniels hit a jumper to give Rhode Island a 17-13 lead with 11:59 left
in the first half, but Fordham ran off 12 consecutive points to take a 25-17
lead.
Dunston scored six of his 12 first half points during the Fordham run. He
started the run with a dunk, hit a 3-pointer and made a foul shot, all within
three minutes.
Rhode Island trailed 29-21 with 4:14 to play in the first half after
Jermaine Anderson hit a 3-pointer. Rhode Island was able to close the gap to
33-29 at halftime, as Scott Hazelton scored all of his eight first half points
in the final 2:54 of the half. He finished with 14 points and nine rebounds.
