WOMEN'S CROSS COUNTRY TAKES 3RD PLACE

NEW BRITAIN, Conn. - The women's cross country team finished third at the Ted Owen's Invitational, defeating CCSU and Fairfield. Emily Anderson led the Ram's taking third place with a time of 18:28. Anderson's time is URI's 4th fastest ever at the Stanley Quarter course.

Also contributing to the team's victory were Katherine Guilfoyl (19:14), Andrea Newton (19:15), Lindsay Vieira (19:23), Courtney Klenk (19:25), Megan O'Shea (19:31), and Kayla Murphy (20:33).

"We were pleased with our team performance today," said head coach Laurie Feit-Melnick. "Our team finished a close third to UConn despite the fact that we rested two of our top runners, Cindy Smith and Jamie Sweeney. Emily Anderson really stepped up to lead our team today."

The next women's cross country meet will be the Paul Short Invitational in Leigh, Bethlehem, Pa. on October 1, at 10:45 am.
