Women's Volleyball Loses To George Washington

WASHINGTON, D.C.  Senior outside hitter Inga Schlecht earned a double-double with 11 kills and 10 digs and her senior counterpart Rachel Bello was two digs shy of her own double-double with 10 kills and eight digs, but the Rams go down against George Washington, 3-1 (30-24, 28-30, 19-30, 12-30).

The other two Rams with double-figures in kills were sophomore outside hitter Jillian Bekke (10) and freshman middle blocker Caitlin Welsh (10). Other Rams contributing were senior setter Lindsay St. John, who had 29 assists, and sophomore libero Leslie Wiekamp, who had a match-high 21 digs.

The Rams will have two home matches this upcoming weekend including the "Dig For The Cure" match against Xavier on October 28 at 2:00 p.m. Anyone who is interested in pledging money or making a donation to the fund should contact the URI volleyball office at (401) 874-5231 or come to the game on Saturday, October 28 to make your pledges in person. All monies will be given to the Rhode Island Cancer Council and designated for Breast Cancer Education.
