KINGSTON, R.I. Senior outside hitter Inga Schlecht recorded a double-double with 17 kills and 16 digs and four other Rams had double figures in kills as Rhode Island improves it's A-10 record to 2-2 with tonight's 3-1 (30-26, 28-30, 31-29, 30-22) win, over the Duquesne Dukes.
The other four Rams with double figures in kills were Rachel Bello with 18, Jillian Bekke with 14, Ivy Zuidhof with 12 and Lauren Shea with 11. Bello also added nine digs, just missing the double-double. Libero Leslie Wiekamp was credited with 31 digs, which was a match-high.
During the third game, both teams were even in scoring throughout and it was forced to go into extra points. With Rhode Island leading 29-28, Ivy Zuidhof made an attack error, which gave the Dukes a point to tie the match. She would revive herself as she put down the game-winning kill moments later for a 31-29 victory for the Rams.
In the fourth and final game, Rhode Island started off trailing until they tied the score at 14. The Rams then rallied off a 16-8 scoring run to end the game 30-22 and sealed a match victory.
The Rams are now 2-2 in Atlantic 10 competition and will travel to Ohio next weekend to face-off against Dayton and Xavier.
