KINGSTON, R.I. - Despite a double-double 17 digs and 16 kills from senior outside hitter Inga Schlecht, Rhode Island fell to Akron, 3-1 (32-30, 30-23, 26-30, 30-28) in the final match of the Rhode Island Invitational, Saturday, in Keaney Gymnasium. Pittsburgh finished 3-0 on the weekend, followed by Northeastern (2-1), Akron (1-2) and URI (0-3)

Two other Rams finished the match with double-doubles: junior setter Kaira Kachadurian was credited with 59 assists and 11 digs, while sophomore outside hitter Chinny Okpara added 12 kills and 12 digs.

Sophomore libero Leslie Wiekamp was named to the All-Tournament Team after tallying 23 digs for Rhode Island (1-5).

Freshman middle blocker Caitlyn Welsh put down a career-high 14 kills.

Next up for Rhode Island is the Crusader Classic hosted by Holy Cross this Thursday-Saturday, Sept. 7-9, in Worcester, Mass.
