Field Hockey Falls to Temple, 6-1

PHILADELPHIA - Sophomore Jill Powers (Leominster, Mass.) scored the Rams' only goal as the Rhode Island field hockey team was handed a 6-1 loss at Temple, Sunday afternoon. Goalkeeper M.J. Britt (Swoyersville, Pa.) recorded 13 saves in the loss.

Powers tallied her team-leading seventh goal of the season when she tipped in a shot by junior Chrisse Kazmierski (Hunlock Creek, Pa.) off a URI penalty corner to give the Rams a 1-0 lead at the 7:47 mark.

Just over 18 minutes later, Temple's Kasey Ruth tied things up for the Owls before Alli Lokey went on to record a hat trick before the half ended, giving Temple a 4-1 advantage heading into the break.

Loki set up the Owls' fifth goal of the game, assisting Ashley Bird's goal at 36:37, before finishing off the Rams with her fourth tally of the game at 64:13.

For the game, Temple outshot URI, 21-16, and held an 11-8 advantage on penalty corners.

The Rams are back in action on Friday, Oct. 19 when they host Richmond at 3 p.m.
