KINGSTON, R.I. - The Rhode Island field hockey team saw its 2007 campaign come to a close with a 3-0 loss to Massachusetts on Senior Day at the URI Field Hockey Complex. Prior to the start of the game, URI honored its six graduating seniors: M.J. Britt, Jen Cetenich, Kaitlin Chaput, Meghan Daly, Lauren Kurr and Jeannie Records.

The Minutewomen (11-8 overall, 6-1 Atlantic 10) opened the scoring at the 26:26 mark when Kara Murphy sent an unassisted shot past Britt for the 1-0 lead.

UMass struck again at the start of the second half, as Jamie Bourazeris tipped in a shot by Kristina Dorosario to give the Minutewomen a two-goal advantage.

Massachusetts tallied its third and final goal just over ten minutes later when Christine Rodgers directed a Rachel Mervine shot past Britt at 50:52

For the game, UMass outshot URI, 12-6, including a 10-2 advantage in shots on goal. Both teams took seven penalty corners.

Britt recorded seven saves in goal for the Rams while Massachusetts' Becky Letourneau made two stops for her seventh shutout of the season.

With the loss, Rhody finishes its season with a 7-9 overall record (1-6 Atlantic 10) while the win earned UMass a share (with Temple) of the Atlantic 10 regular season title.
