RHODE ISLAND (7-8 OVERALL / 1-5 ATLANTIC10): The Rhode Island field hockey team enters its final game of the season looking to pick up its second conference win after dropping its last four games to Saint Louis, Richmond, Temple and Saint Joseph's. Sophomore Jill Powers (Leominster, Mass.) currently leads the Rams with 16 points on seven goals and two assists. Senior Jen Cetenich (Seekonk, Mass.) is next, with eight points on two goals and four assists. Senior Jeannie Records (North Kingstown, R.I.) enters the contest with two game-winning goals this season while sophomore Lois Kaschenbach (Sweet Valley, Pa.) has recorded a team-best three defensive saves. In goal, senior M.J. Britt (Swoyersville, Pa.) has posted four shutouts and currently ranks fifth in the country with a .806 save percentage and is 12th, nationally, with 7.47 saves per game.
RAMS vs. MINUTEWOMEN: The Senior Day match-up at URI will mark the 34th meeting between the two squads. UMass currently holds a 30-3 advantage in the all-time series, which dates back to the 1980 season. The two teams last met in Amherst, in 2006. In that game, Powers tallied the lone goal at the 49:26 mark and the Rams held on for the win, which earned them their first Atlantic 10 Tournament berth since the 2000 season.
MASSACHUSETTS (10-8 OVERALL / 5-1 BIG EAST): The Minutewomen come to Rhode Island having won three of their last four games. Most recently, UMass dropped a 1-0 decision to Dartmouth on Wednesday afternoon in Amherst, Mass. Prior to that, the team had won five of its last six games. Massachusetts is led by Cher King, who has tallied 17 points this season on seven goals and three assists. Lauren Gillespie is next with nine points (4g, 1a). In all, 12 different Minutewomen have combined to register a total of 25 goals and 18 assists this season. In goal, Becky Letourneau has posted six shutouts while Sarah Williams has two of her own. The two combine for a 0.99 goals against average.
