Rhode Island Races at the New England Championship

BOSTON -- The University of Rhode Island women's cross country finished 30th overall at the New England Championship, held today at Franklin Park in Boston, Mass.

URI totaled 741 points. Quinnipiac captured the team title, with a total of 72 points.

For the Rams, Mary Najarian was the top finisher, crossing the line in 80th place. She clocked 19:47 for the five-kilometer course. Brittany Pelsue was URI's second runner, finishing 109th in a time of 20:10. Dominique Lee placed 162nd (20:37), while Kolleen McCauley was 192nd (20:57). Kathryn Allard rounded out the Rhode Island scorers, finishing in 213th place (21:10). Michele Lauer (232nd, 21:30) and Lindsay Post (274th, 23:05) rounded out the URI finishers.

Boston University's Andrea Walkonen took top individual honors, crossing the finish line in 17:36.

Rhode Island returns to action on Oct. 13 at the Albany (N.Y.) Invitational.
