The Rhode Island volleyball team (7-8 overall; 0-2 Atlantic 10) defeated Brown 3-1 on Wednesday to snap its two-match losing streak.
Three URI players tallied double-digit kill totals against Brown with sophomore Lauren McIntosh (Colorado Springs, Colo) leading the way with 12 terminations. McIntosh has now registered double-digit kill totals in two of her last three matches.
Freshman Kayla Wilson (Santa Monica, Calif.) and junior Caitlyn Welsh (Narragansett, R.I.) notched 11 and 10 kills, respectively.
Welsh also led the team defensively as she tied a season-high with 22 digs to record her eighth double-double on the year.
Offensively, the Rams outhit the Bears .250-.185 as a team. URI also recorded more kills than BU (56-53). Defensively, URI notched 11 blocks, which marks the third time this season it has recorded 10 or more blocks.
The Rams opened the match by taking games one and two winning 25-18 and 25-19, respectively. BU scored a 25-20 victory in three, but the Rams would close out the match in game four, despite hitting .146 in the frame.
Rhode Island returns to action on Oct. 7 as its travels to Central Connecticut for a 7:00 p.m. matchup.
