Rams Place Second at the Fairfield Invitational

FAIRFIELD, Conn. -- Brittany Pelsue and Emily Zaccardi finished sixth and seventh overall, as the Rhode Island women's cross country team competed at the Fairfield University Invitational.

Pelsue covered the hilly five-kilometer course in a time of 19:20.56, while Zaccardi was close on her heels, in 19:22.42. Yale's Stephanie Pearl won the race, in 18:49.54.

Kathryn Allard finished in 19th place, clocking 20:21.34, while Alyssa Namey was 21st, in 20:26.94. Caitrin Demchko rounded out the Rhody scorers, finishing in 28th place overall (20:51.01).

Amy Krajewski (37th, 21:18.73) and Kathryn Hines (40th, 21:34.72) rounded out the Rhode Island finishers.

As a team, URI finished second overall, compiling 65 points. Yale won the weet, with 24 points.

The Rams return to action on Sept. 27 at the Bryant Invitational in Smithfield, R.I.
