Volleyball Comes up Short at Home Against Northeastern

KINGSTON, R.I. - The Rhode Island volleyball team (5-6) lost its third straight match on Tuesday as it fell to Northeastern in three straight games.

Freshman outside hitter Stacey Yohannes (Penfield, N.Y.) paced the squad offensively with eight kills. Junior outside hitter Caitlyn Welsh (Narragansett, R.I.) tallied five kills, which marked just the third time this season that she was held under 10 kills in a match.

Senior Peggy Doino (Deer Park, N.Y.) and Welsh led the team defensively with eight digs apiece.

The Rams fell in games one and two, losing 26-24 and 25-21, respectively. In the third game, the Rams held a 23-20 advantage, but the Huskies scored six of the final seven points to win the frame and the match.

Rhode Island returns to action tomorrow at 7:00 p.m. as it welcomes Holy Cross.
