Rhody Falls 3-1 at Charlotte

CHARLOTTE, N.C. - The Rhode Island volleyball team (5-10; 0-4 Atlantic 10) fell 3-1 Sunday afternoon at Charlotte.

Senior Caitlyn Welsh and freshman Rachel Zarazan led way offensively as they recorded nine kills apiece. Zarazan's nine kills tied a season-high.

Sophomore Candice Kolkka also chipped in offensively as she totaled 14 assists.

Defensively for Rhody, junior Kalyn Klaess tallied 17 digs.

Charlotte jumped out to a 1-0 lead as it downed Rhody 25-16 in game one. URI responded in the second set as it claimed a 25-13 victory to even the match at one game apiece.

The 49er's would then go on to win games three and four, winning 25-11 and 25-20, respectively.

Rhody returns home on Friday night against Xavier at 7 p.m.
