500 WINS: Rams Head Coach Earns Milestone Victory

KINGSTON, R.I. - The Rhode Island volleyball team (3-5) defeated Brown 3-0 and in the process handed head coach Bob Schneck his 500th career victory Saturday night at the Art Carmichael Invitational.

With the victory, Schneck becomes just the 26th head coach in NCAA history to win 500 career matches.

Senior Caitlyn Welsh posted her fourth straight double-double as she collected 13 kills and 14 digs. Welsh was selected to the All-Tournament team for efforts during the two-day event. Teammates Kayla Newberg and Kayla Wilson joined Welsh on the all-tournament team.

URI earned set victories of 25-21, 25-21 and 28-26 to capture the victory.

Rhody finished the Art Carmichael Invitational with a 2-1 record following its win over Brown.
