WARWICK, R.I.- The University of Rhode Island women's cross country team placed third overall out of seven teams in the Brown Invitational on Friday afternoon in Warwick.

Senior Caitrin Demchko had yet another strong showing as she led all Rhody runners with a 6th place finish. Demchko covered the 5 K course in 18:02.3. Senior Brittany Pelsue followed Demchko in 9th place with a time of 18:11.9.

Mary Najarian was URI's third finisher in 24th place with a time of 18:39.6. Following Najarian were freshman Jordan Westcott (28th, 18:53.8) and sophomore Niamh Ryan (32nd, 19:06.8).

Rhode Island is back in action on Oct. 30th as the travel to Pittsburgh, Pa. for the 2010 Atlantic 10 Championships. Race time is for 10:45 a.m.
