Pittsburgh, Pa.- The University of Rhode Island women's cross country team placed 7th at the 2010 Atlantic 10 Cross Country Championships, held at Schenley Park in Pittsburgh, Pa.
Led by senior Brittany Pelsue, the Rams compiled 196 points on the day, just seven behind both Charlotte and Duquesne, who tied for 5th with 189 points.
In her final cross country meet, Pelsue was Rhode Island's top finisher in 13th place with a time of 17:59. Following Pelsue were fellow seniors Caitrin Demchko and Mary Najarian. Demchko placed 27th with a time of 18:25 while Najarian was 42nd with a time of 18:44
Also finishing for Rhody were sophomore Niamh Ryan (49th, 18:53), freshman Cassie Olson (65th, 19:12), freshman Jordan Westcott (68th, 19:17) and freshman Bridget Murphy (84th, 20:11).
Richmond won the title with 43 points and George Washington's Megan Hogan was the top finisher with a time of 16:56.
