Men's Soccer Plays Dayton to Scoreless Draw

KINGSTON, R.I. - Redshirt junior goalkeeper Peyton Warwick picked up his first shutout of the season as the Rams played to a scoreless tie with visiting Dayton, Friday night at the URI Soccer Complex. The match was the the Atlantic 10 opener for both squads.

With the draw, URI (2-6-2, 0-0-1) remains unbeaten at home this season while Dayton moves to 4-4-2 (0-0-1).

Sophomore Thomas Lindroos and freshman Tom Palmer led the Rams with five shots apiece. Three of Lindroos' attempts were on goal, while UD goalkeeper Tyler Picard also blocked shots by junior Reece Markman, senior Matt Preyss and redshirt freshman Joey Haught.

Both Warwick and Picard finished with six saves on the night.

Overall, Rhody held a slight advantage in shots (18-15) while each team combed for six attempts throughout the overtime periods. The Rams and Flyers also finished with five corner kicks apiece.

Rhody returns to action on Sunday afternoon when it hosts Xavier (3-3-3, 0-1-0) at Noon.
