William Synnestvedt was named the Atlantic 10 Men's Soccer Rookie of the Week, the conference announced Monday afternoon.
Synnestvedt made a career-high six saves while earning a shutout in URI's scoreless draw with VCU Saturday night. It was the second career shutout in seven starts for the redshirt freshman from Cohasset, Mass.
Synnestvedt has solidified the goalie position for the Rams. He is 2-3-2 overall in seven starts with a 1.29 goals-against average. Over his last five starts, he is 2-2-1 with a 0.8 goals-against average. Over his last five matches, he has 16 saves.
Synnestvedt is the second Rhode Island player to earn Rookie of the Week recognition this season.
Kyler Vojvodic received the honor for the week of Oct. 6.
Rhode Island plays at Saint Louis in its regular-season finale on Saturday, Nov. 1. The match begins at 8 p.m. EST and will stream on ESPN+.
