KINGSTON, R.I. - Rhode Island's
Sinan Bruning was named the Atlantic 10 Men's Soccer Rookie of the Week for the final week of the regular season, the conference announced Monday afternoon.
Bruning scored Rhody's lone goal in a 1-1 tie at No. 22 Saint Louis Saturday night. The Bremen, Germany native nearly added a second goal in the 78th minute of the match, but Saint Louis keeper Jeremi Abdonnel just was able to get his foot on the ball to knock it away.
Bruning played in all 17 matches for the Rams this season, making seven starts. He finished the year with three goals and one assist.
He is the third Rhode Island player to earn A-10 Rookie of the Week honors this season, with all three coming in the final five weeks of the season.
Tyler Vojvodic won the award for the week of Oct. 6, while
William Synnestvedt did the same last week.
