BOSTON- The University of Rhode Island women's cross country team had a strong showing at the New England Championships as they finished 13th out of 47 teams at Franklin Park in Boston.

Senior Brittany Pelsue led the way for Rhody as she finished 42nd overall, covering the 5.017 K course in 18:44. Sophomore Niamh Ryan followed Pelsue in 74th place with time of 19:00.

Senior Caitrin Demchko, fresh off her victory at the CCSU Invite, followed Ryan in 75th place with a time of 19:01.

Rounding out Rhody's finishers were senior Mary Najarian (89th, 19:09) and freshman Jordan Westcott (94th, 19:12).

Rhode Island is back in action as they travel to Warwick, R.I. to take part in the Brown Invitational. Race time is set for 11 a.m.
