CHARLOTTE, N.C. - The Rhode Island women's
volleyball team (13-14; 4-10 Atlantic 10) came up short at
Charlotte Friday night at Halton Arena.
Junior Kayla
Wilson and freshman Britta Baarstad
each tallied six kills apiece to lead the way offenisviely for the
Rams. Junior Candice Kolkka
also chipped in offensively as she tallied 21 assists.
In the opening set, URI trailed 12-9 in the early going, but the
Rams rallied back to tie the frame at 18 apiece. Charlotte
responded by winning seven of the last 10 points to claim the set
25-20.
Charlotte increased its match advantage to 2-0 as it defeated
Rhody 25-15. The 49ers' outhit the Rams .448-.156. The 49ers'
closed out the Rams in the third set thanks to a 25-11 triumph.
Rhody returns to action on Sunday as it heads to La Salle. The
match is set to begin at 1 p.m.
